I really enjoyed this museum. I am not sure how intentional this was but having a guard open the door as you entered made the building feel particularly ominous. Getting entry was fast, with an additional cost for the audio tour. The audio tour was useful as it provided extra context and translation for the various rooms. What let it down however is the headsets being really low grade and the handset being glitchy at times and annoying to hold. Since the handsets were low grade it was hard to hear as the exhibits had various videos playing. This made for it to be an overload of the senses in some rooms. There were a lot of school groups in when we visited which also made it annoying to try and view things around them, this could have been managed better as it led to some pile ups in various exhibits. Despite this the museum itself has an impressive history and the exhibits were all varied, interesting and told the story well. You could get a sense of how Hungarians placed real importance in their own people and the world knowing what they suffered under Nazism and Communism. The museum also had a gift shop with a decent selection of items. If you are interested in Nazism and Communism in one of its satellite states or the foundation of modern Hungary I would really recommend giving this museum a morning or afternoon of your time. Try and find a quiet time if you want to take it all in though.

Visited the museum on March 15 which the museum offers free entrance. There was a long line but it went by pretty fast.

The exhibition is mostly in hungarian but they do have English subtitles and english notes available.

It was interesting 4 floors exhibitions worth the shot to visit.

Diría que es una visita cultural interesante, está enfocado a personajes locales y como se vivieros esos terribles años de guerra, postguerra y posterior dictadura comunista. Es impresionante ver hasta que punto llegó todo y sorprende como personas civiles, vecinos o ciudadanos acabaron convertidos en lo peor. El museo necesita mejorar idiomas ampliar en este sentido, mejorar accesibilidad.

Interesting museum about the history of Hungary and the past of the Soviet regime. It can be abit abstract at times and some exhibits have no English descriptions. The exhibit is not that big and can be finished in about 30-45 minutes. The sentiment of the museum is good as you can see the real building and place of the atrocities, but it is not very educational. Museum tours can block whole rooms and passages for other visitors which is frustrating. Staff are just curt and not friendly.

Quite shocking to discover (once again) how cruel man can be towards other human beings, but a very good Museum and a place everyone MUST visit! Well done!

Should have a lot of stories that show the horrible period in Hungary. The poor arrangement not able to bring up the interest and make visitor boring and sleepy. Basically just script with some videos and throw these information to visitors. Unlike other museum or gallery that they don’t allow any photos taking in this house. I would not recommend to waste time

Visita obligada para saber como las malas artes del comunismo siguen vivas. Manipulación, control de los jueces, deshumanización, búsqueda permanente de un culpable (el comunismo nunca lo es), división social, eliminación de cualquier propiedad privada, anular la familia, todo contra la religion ✝️✡, eliminar al rival/enemigo, apropiación y destrucción de símbolos, horror, terror, hambre, necesidad, miseria ...
La historia continua.
No olvidemos a su primo el fascismo.

El mejor museo de la II guerra mundial y la guerra y dominio soviético en Budapest.
He de decir que el museo está más basado en Budapest durante el dominio soviético que en cualquier otra contienda bélica de Hungría. En particular hay poca cosa respecto a los nazis.
El museo es bastante grande y lo más llamativo y lo más sobrecogedor se encuentra al final, cuando te cuentan y muestras las prisiones y las habitaciones donde sentenciaban y asesinaban a las personas mediante una soga.
Recomiendo coger audioguia, ya que es necesaria para entender toda la historia del museo, aunque tiene un suplemento en la entrada, merece la pena porque si no es ir un poco a perder el tiempo en ciertas zonas ya que solo hay explicaciones en húngaro y en inglés pero son mediante hojas a disposición limitadas en las diferentes salas.
No es necesario reservar, ni comprar las entradas por internet ya que no suele estar muy concurrido y son fácilmente adquiribles en taquilla en el momento. Aunque las trabajadoras de taquilla y de guardaropa no tienen muchas ganas de trabajar cara al público ya que no son nada amables, ni dan ninguna facilidad. No como la persona de seguridad del museo que sí que es más simpático y agradable.
Él guardarropas es obligatorio para mochilas, aunque es gratuito.
Durante el recorrido no se pueden hacer fotos. Lo que hay que tener en cuenta todo el rato aunque te lo van recordando.
A la entrada hay un trozo de muro de Berlín y la ubicación del museo está un poco alejada del centro (parlamento) aunque se puede llegar en 20 - 30 min andando desde ahí.
Si te sobra tiempo en Budapest, es una buena opción para conocer parte de su historia y su dolor.
